Valley Regional Hospital


valley_regional_hospital.jpgValley Regional Hospital, located in Claremont, New Hampshire, was founded in the late 1800's by the Ladies Union Aid Society. The original structure, which was the former Keyes Farm, underwent a significant addition in 1896 and an entirely new state-of-the-art facility was built on the property in the early 1920's. The hospital underwent additional significant expansions in 1959 and in 1982, followed by a 23,000 square foot renovation and 32,000 square foot new addition in 2008.

Project Scope

Yeaton Associates, Inc. was secured to provide mechanical, plumbing and sprinkler system design services for the 2008 expansion and renovation of the hospital. This included partial demolition of two of the oldest hospital wings (built in 1924 and 1959), renovation of 23,000 square feet of existing infrastructure as well as a 32,000 square foot addition. The overall scope of the project was to improve the medical surgery and intensive care units as well as design a new space for the oncology department and emergency room.

Project Result

Project construction was completed in September 2010 with the intended, favorable results. The HVAC system is comprised of new steam boilers that address building heat, sterilization and humidification, coupled with hot water conversion and variable speed pumping. A high-efficiency water-cooled chiller plant provides chilled water for facility cooling. New vacuum and medical air plants were installed, as well as oxygen distribution. The mechanical systems were commissioned prior to owner acceptance.
